ASCA Music - Music Provision in Schools

Annual ASCA Summer Concert Saturday 1st July 2023

Our annual concert took place on Saturday 1st July with two concerts taking place. Over 70 pupils performed across the two concerts and it was a wonderful, supportive atmosphere for all involved. It was lovely to have so many performances from different instrumental disciplines from Reception to Year 10. Many of our younger primary students felt inspired by the performances of the older students from Abbey College.

We thank Andy Scrase for his work on the sound desk to ensure that the concerts ran smoothly and of course a big thank you to tutors who support their students on the day.

We are very much looking forward to the next one!

Offering lessons in schools in the ASCA area with 8 tutors

We are at Abbey College, Ashbeach School, Bury CofE primary School, Earith School, Ramsey Juniors, Somersham School, Spinning Infants, St-Helen's School in Bluntisham, Upwood Primary School, Warboys County Primary School.

Private music lessons taken in schools during the school day. These can be individual or joint lessons paid on a 5 or 10 weekly basis. Students learn just for fun, to help with other music study, to help prepare for auditions and/or to take grades. Whatever the reason you want to learn, we can accomodate you.

Guitar

ASCA music are lucky to have 2 guitar teachers on board offering lessons to all ages and capabilities. We offer electric guitar, acoustic, bass and ukelele. Our teachers are diverse in their teaching styles meaning we are able to suit most people's choices - from rock and roll to classic and to grades. Lessons may be individual or jointly taken.

Drums

Drum lessons are available at Abbey College, Earith, Somersham, Warboys and Ramsey Juniors. If drum lessons are not available at your childs school and you wish for your child to learn please contact Vicky Scrase.

Woodwind

Woodwind is a popular instrument and we have a teacher offering lessons in flute, clarinet and saxophone in some of our schools. We also are able to give recorder lessons to those who wish to learn the instrument. This is sometimes chosen as a precursor to another instrument or can be chosen as instrument by itself and taken to an advanced level.

Strings

We are now able to offer violin lessons in all of our schools due to the recruitment of a violin teacher as of September 2023. Violin is a rewarding instrument to learn with benefits such as improving reading, language processing and speech skills!

Piano

This is our most popular instrument across all our schools. We have a variety of tutors teaching piano including a specliast Jazz pianist as well as tutors who specialise in classical piano. Piano is also often used by students who are studying GCSE/BTEC/Level 3 qualifications and they find private tuition very helpful in the practical element of their studies.

Singing

This instrument is growing in popularity in both boys and girls across the age groups. Our students range from youngsters wanting to sing their favourite songs to those wishing to go in to theatre and learn audition pieces or study for singing exams. The lessons include vocal technique, a wide range of repetoire and a chance to learn to sing in public if they wish.
